LOGLINE
When a young couple finds their lives turned upside down due to an unplanned pregnancy, they go on a madcap quest to adopt the parents they never had, but always wanted.

SYNOPSIS
Married couple MIA and DAVID SCOTT seem to have it all: a beautiful townhouse, fabulous friends, hot careers in Fashion and Architecture, and best of all: a baby on the way. So why then is this couple looking to adopt parents?

Mia became a ward of the state as a young child, and never knew the love and support of a family. And David’s wealthy parents were much older, and are now deceased.

When these two learn they’ve got an unplanned pregnancy on their hands, career-woman Mia is suddenly terrified: how can she and David be good parents, when they never had any?

Inspiration strikes when Mia spots a headline: Teen Celebrity Divorces Parents! Well, if you can divorce your parents, then you can also adopt a pair. It’s the perfect answer: adopt some parents and create the ideal family unit!

At first, David just goes along with Mia’s harebrained scheme to keep his hormonal wife happy. And so begins their quest to find the perfect parents.

They start by interviewing couples they know. They visit retirement facilities, stake out senior citizen homes, hold mixers in the back yard, and even consider a homeless guy on the street. But no one fits the bill.

Just about to give up hope, Mia befriends a charmer, RAY, in a park, while David rescues a lovely woman, JUNE, from an oncoming taxi. BINGO! So relieved to have found the parents of their dreams, Mia and David don’t do their due diligence.

It turns out that Ray and June each have a secret they need to keep under wraps…and are more than willing to let Mia and David house them, to avoid detection.

For Mia and David, bringing Ray and June home is just the beginning. As this wannabe nuclear family learns how to connect, hijinks and hilarity ensue. Shopping trips, family dinners, and weekend getaways are crammed in tight, so that David and Mia can bond with baby’s “grandparents” before she arrives.

But beyond that, as the first family to adopt parents, they have to set a precedent with Social Services, by adopting a “couple”. This means that Ray and June have to actually become an item themselves. Easier said than done!

In a frenzy, Mia goes so far as to feature her “parents” in a magazine article to show them off. When Mia’s article is published, showcasing Ray and June, it backfires: her perfect parents are revealed as frauds. Ray is a conman on the run. And June is a billionaire’s widow, who escaped her gold-digging family’s clutches in order to make meaningful use of her late husband’s mega-wealth.

Mia is devastated to learn that June and Ray were just using her. Her fragile trust is destroyed. While David really wants to help Ray and June, Mia refuses, and throws her adoptive parents out.

Mia’s turnaround comes when she’s recognized with a top fashion industry award, and no one is there to share her magic moment with her. Regardless of their past choices, Mia loves Ray and June, and she wants them back in her life with David…today. Mia sets out to reunite her makeshift family, who are grateful to be welcomed back by their new daughter.

The story culminates with a wedding-style adoption ceremony, complete with vows. Mia and David take Ray and June to be their lawfully adopted parents, and vice versa. And right on cue, Mia goes into labor with baby ROSE. As a family, they all head to the hospital for the delivery.

All that’s missing now is an aunt, an uncle and a few cousins…
