Because Love Is Love (working title)

an Interfaith Holiday Rom-Com • screenplay by Gaby Santinelli • story by Tony Ciminero

LOGLINE. Opposites attract at the best of times. But what about holiday times? In a blizzard? What about across an ocean? When two very different people open their hearts to new and unexpected possibilities, miracles can happen. When we least expect it, the person we’d never, ever, have considered before could just be The One. Don’t judge others by their cover. Because love is the glue. Because…Love Is Love.

OVERVIEW. Just when an aspiring American actress gets her big break to star opposite her real life love interest in London’s West End, she meets a kind, outwardly brash, Jewish doctor at an otherwise congenial interfaith holiday party. And boy, do sparks fly. But when her father takes ill on Christmas Eve, she has nowhere to turn except her new physician friend. During a whirlwind road trip back to her hometown, a winter storm descends, forcing the feisty actress and the outspoken doctor to get to know each other a bit more than they had bargained for! Can they find strength in the differences between them? And comfort in the places where they overlap? It seems that they may never find out. Back in the city, after ringing in the New Year amongst their eclectic crowd, our starry-eyed young actress chases her career, and her wildly-successful British boyfriend, across the Atlantic…indefinitely.

Yet when happenstance flings the actress and the doctor back together again, it becomes clear that her time in England has not exactly gone to plan. The doctor asks her to return to the States, but will Britain’s leading man quietly allow his sweet ingénue to return to America? Or will he put on a good show to keep her in his life, and in the spotlight, on his side of the pond for the Holidays…and beyond? When she escapes his orbit, and circles back to the same Interfaith party where she met the doctor one year earlier, it’s clear that love is the most powerful glue of all.
